Situated in Italy's northeast, Veneto extends from the Dolomites to the Adriatic Sea, by way of an expansive range of hills and a valley furrowed by rivers, canals and the Po River Delta. Veneto, a region with a thousand different faces, is the custodian of natural, artistic, and traditional treasures. Veneto expresses an extraordinary variety in its scenery: from the Dolomites, dipped in the crimson shades of the sunset, to the eastern shore of Lake Garda and Peschiera del Garda, Torri del Benaco and other tourist destinations. Long, sandy beaches alternate with well-known resorts, such as Lido di Venezia Jesolo. In this spectacular natural setting lies a rich cultural heritage that renders the Veneto such a fascinating region, from its cities of art to the magnificent Palladian villas scattered along the Brenta Riviera. The town of Vicenza is in the Veneto region of northern Italy on the low hills between the mountains of Berici and Lessini, on a natural communication route. The wealth of its leading citizens resulted in the erection of many lavish buildings, strongly influenced by Venetian taste, but it was the advent of Andrea Palladio that gave Vicenza its enduring form. The centre of Vicenza is easily reached on foot from the property in about 20 minutes. Vicenza is a lovely town with historical palaces, large square (Piazza dei Signori) with the magnificent Basilica Palladiana , the worldwide famous Teatro Olimpico, the Church of Santa Corona, with beautiful paintings of Bellini and Mantegna, everywhere there are gems of Art and History. From Villa San Bastiano at a walking distance, you can visit the famous Villa Valmarana with its worldwide known frescoes by Italian painters Gianbattista and son Giandomenico Tiepolo. Next to Villa Valmarana, still at a short walking distance, a pleasant walk on an old path that anciently connected the two Villas, will lead you to the famous Villa Capra detta La Rotonda, masterpiece of the famous architect Andrea Palladio. During your stay at the villa you may also want to explore the nearby towns such as Padova, Verona and Venice that are reachable by a short time trip by car or by train.

In Vicenza your concierge will make reservations in advance to visit the Teatro Olimpico, taste the best Prosecco and visit the gelaterie artigiane, and design a great itinerary to stroll around the pedestrianised city centre, dominated by classically proportioned buildings with a smattering of gothic and baroque architecture. We will make sure you receive of all the small trattorie in town serving traditional dishes including baccalà alla vicentina, not made from salted cod (as elsewhere in Italy), but from stockfish (dried, unsalted cod), mixed with oil and milk, accompanied by polenta, our favourite one being L’Osteria del Cane Barbino where the talented Anna receives our guests with particular attention.

Take few steps from our villa and continue to the 17th-century Villa Valmarana "Ai Nani", so called because of the nani or dwarves that line the garden wall. The delicate and colourful frescoes are the result of a rare collaboration between artist Giambattista Tiepolo and his son Giandomenico in 1757, and depict scenes from the Iliad and Aeneid, among others. Close by is the Villa Capra (known as "La Rotonda"), considered Palladio's greatest masterpiece where sloping lawns and panoramic views circle this Pantheon-inspired, temple-like structure. We will also plan excursions, including Bassano del Grappa, the birthplace of Jacopo Bassano, a 50-minute train journey from Vicenza. Don't miss the small town museum built into cloisters that dedicates a room to the artist. Last, but certainly not least, get to Venice in merely one hour train, and be back in our oasis by the end of the day, with your own pool and panoramic terrace and gardens.
